Your Dream Harbor Companion Guide: The Complete Series

Welcome to Dream Harbor sign with cinnamon buns, pumpkins and fairy lights at sunset

Series: Dream Harbor by Laurie Gilmore (6 books) Books: The Pumpkin Spice Cafe, The Cinnamon Bun Book Store, The Christmas Tree Farm, The Strawberry Patch Pancake House, The Gingerbread Bakery, The Daisy Chain Flower Shop

I found Dream Harbor when I was deep in my dark romance era. Morally grey men, chaos, emotional destruction, the works. Then The Pumpkin Spice Cafe appeared on my radar and I thought, fine, one cosy book. A palette cleanser. A moment of peace.

Six books later, I have opinions about every couple in this fictional town, I have ranked every book boyfriend with alarming specificity, and Dream Harbor has taken up permanent residence in my personality.

What is Dream Harbor?

Dream Harbor is a fictional small town where everyone runs an adorable small business, the gossip travels faster than WiFi, and falling in love is basically a community sport. Each book follows a different couple, with the town and its cast of recurring characters threading through every story.

The romance sits at a warm two to three chillies. Warm spice, genuine open-door moments, but not the “explain nothing to your family” end of the scale. The tension does most of the heavy lifting.

The Reading Order

1. The Pumpkin Spice Cafe

Couple: Jeanie + Logan Tropes: Grumpy farmer, small town, found family, cosy autumn, he falls first Rating: 5/5 stars | Spice: 2/5

The one that started everything. Logan is a grumpy farmer who would rather not deal with anyone. The town is extremely invested regardless. I went in expecting a light read and was emotionally relocated to Dream Harbor by chapter three.

2. The Cinnamon Bun Book Store

Couple: Hazel + Noah (fisherman) Tropes: Bookish romance, small town, coastal town vibes, cute dates, seagull defence as love language Rating: 4/5 stars | Spice: 3/5

A fisherman named Noah who will absolutely handle the seagulls if you have a bird-related emergency at the beach. The bookshop setting is exactly as cosy as advertised. The spice steps up from book one.

3. The Christmas Tree Farm

Couple: Kira + Bennett Tropes: Grumpy heroine, forced proximity, Christmas romance, banter, he falls first Rating: 4.5/5 stars | Spice: 2.5/5 | Tension: 4/5

The gender-flipped grumpy x sunshine. Kira hates Christmas and owns a Christmas tree farm. Bennett gets snowed in and decides her problems are now his problems. The tension carries this more than the spice.

4. The Strawberry Patch Pancake House

Couple: Iris + Archer Tropes: Grumpy chef, quirky heroine, single parent in the mix, foodie romance, found family, angry chef energy Rating: 5/5 stars | Spice: 2/5 | Tension: 4/5

Archer unlocked angry chef as a fictional-man weakness. Gordon Ramsay energy, grey sweatpants at midnight, pancake batter moment. The tea party scene will pull your heartstrings. Five stars. If I could give it six, I would.

5. The Gingerbread Bakery

Couple: Annie + Mac Tropes: Long-awaited couple, second chance energy, Christmas romance, wedding, full ensemble cast, finally their turn Rating: 5/5 stars | Spice: 2.5/5 | Tension: 4/5

The one you have been waiting for since book one. Annie and Mac have history, tension and long-established “what is going on with those two?” energy. Christmas, a wedding, a gingerbread bakery, the whole Dream Harbor cast. Mac is my number one Dream Harbor MMC. Not accepting questions.

6. The Daisy Chain Flower Shop

Couple: Daisy + Elliot Tropes: Fake dating, cursed flower shop reputation, newcomer architect in town, spring romance vibes Rating: 4/5 stars | Spice: 2/5

Daisy’s flower shop has earned a cursed romantic reputation because Dream Harbor needs to mind its business (it will not). Sweet, cosy, spring-coded. Elliot is lovely. Not a fictional-man emergency, but worth the fake dating chaos.
