Hi, I’m Cassie, the owner of EmberSas Creations.
I’m a Brisbane-based maker, reader, and the woman behind the blog, the strong bookish opinions, the handmade products, and a TBR pile so structurally unsound it’s basically a fire hazard. I’ll get to it. Probably. Right after this next one.
EmberSas started as a handmade gift business, but it grew into something bigger. These days it’s less “shop” and more “book club that got a little out of hand.” Think Friday night reading chats over cocktails and a charcuterie board, brutally honest reviews, trope discussions that turn into three-hour spirals, cosy recommendations, a healthy amount of spice, a lot of sarcasm, and the kind of conversations that only happen when readers find their people and realise they’re not the only one who’s like this about a fictional man.
Because that’s really what EmberSas is about.
It’s for the girls who love romance, romantasy, dark romance, small town comfort reads, hockey boys, cowboys, morally grey men who would absolutely be a red flag in real life, book tropes, fictional towns we’d relocate to tomorrow, and books that leave you staring at the wall at 2am, swearing out loud because it ended on a cliffhanger and now you have to wait a YEAR.
If you’ve ever sacrificed sleep for “just one more chapter,” caught feelings for a man who isn’t real, judged a book purely on the vibe before you read a single word of the blurb, or quietly loved a book so taboo, so unhinged, so what-was-that-even-used-for that you’d never say it out loud — you’re among friends. We listen. We don’t judge. If anything, we want the recommendation.
What you’ll find here
The blog side of EmberSas is where I share the bookish content I actually want to talk about — no filter, no corporate sparkle, including:
- book reviews (the honest kind — five stars, emotional damage, and a warning about which chapter to skip if your mum walks past)
- book club style picks
- trope chats and the occasional unhinged trope ranking
- reading recaps and post-book grief support
- upcoming releases I’m already feral for
- bookish recipes, drinks and cosy extras
- gift ideas for the reader in your life (or yourself, no judgement)
- general reader thoughts, feelings, hot takes and mild spirals
- recs for the books you hope your family never finds out you read
The goal is a space that feels fun, cosy, a little chaotic, and exactly like your group chat came to life — the one where someone sends a screenshot at midnight with the caption “I cannot recover from this.”
I want this website to feel like somewhere you come to hang out, not just hand over your card details. Somewhere you discover your next obsession, find a review that sounds like a real person wrote it (because one did), and get the kind of bookish content that reads more like BookTok, book club night and bestie voice notes than the polished, beige, AI-flavoured marketing everyone else is churning out.
My reading taste
I’m a romance reader to my core, with a soft spot for romantasy, dark romance, small town romance, hockey romance, and any book that makes me laugh, blush, gasp, or immediately text someone in all caps.
I love strong chemistry, slow-burn tension that nearly kills me, banter sharp enough to draw blood, emotional damage I did not consent to, and fictional men who are objectively a terrible idea and somehow still rent-free in my head.
A lot of my reading life has been shaped by the books and series that readers love to lose their minds over together — the ones that hijack your whole personality for a week, send you into a full reading spiral, and have you hunting for “anything that feels like this” the second you turn the last page and enter the grieving process.
Where the products fit in
Alongside the blog, I make handmade bookish gifts and accessories for readers who want to drag a little more of that reading life into the real world.
That’s things like bookmarks, drinkware, car accessories, signs and other reader goodies — all designed with the same energy as everything else here: playful, bookish, a bit sassy, very cosy, and made for people who are completely normal about books. Or at least normal enough to pass in public.
A big part of the creative direction behind EmberSas is pairing books, tropes, characters and fictional places with products and moods. What if this book had a scent? What would this trope taste like? What would this fictional town look like as an entire vibe? That’s the kind of fun I want this brand to keep growing into.
Why I do this
At the heart of it, I built EmberSas for people like me. Readers who don’t just read books — they build whole personalities, rituals and questionable life choices around them. Readers who want more than a transaction. Readers who want community, recommendations, inside jokes, comfort reads, spicy recs, and a space that feels like it was made by someone who genuinely gets the obsession, because she’s neck-deep in it too.
So whether you’re here for the reviews, the recommendations, the book club energy, or the handmade goods, I’m really glad you found your way in.
Welcome to EmberSas. Settle in. Bring snacks.
Cassie x
