The quick verdict
I cannot believe I waited this long to read Your Dad Will Do.
This is a gloriously over-the-top taboo novella with revenge, an ex-fiancé’s father, a significant age gap and enough confidence from Shane to make good judgement pack its bags and leave for the weekend.
It is unapologetically filthy, surprisingly satisfying and far more entertaining than a story built around one spectacularly questionable revenge plan had any right to be.
Five stars. Five chillies. Absolutely no notes that would improve my behaviour.
The rundown
After discovering that her fiancé has been cheating, Lily decides ordinary revenge is not going to be enough.
She has spent years secretly fantasising about his father, Shane, so she arrives at his house with a plan to finally act on those feelings while delivering the most personally targeted retaliation imaginable.
What is supposed to be a single reckless weekend quickly reveals that Lily is not the only one who has been paying attention.
There is technically a plot. It is wearing rolled-up sleeves and knows exactly what it is doing.
Real talk
I loved this book so much.
Katee Robert understands that a short erotic novella does not need to pretend it is something else. The premise is established quickly, the attraction is already simmering, and the story wastes almost no time getting to the highly questionable reason everyone picked it up.
What surprised me was how well the plot still worked around the spice. Lily’s revenge gives the story immediate momentum, but her fantasies about Shane existed long before the betrayal. That made their connection feel like more than a reaction to her ex, even when revenge was the match that finally lit everything.
And Shane?
That man arrived with the composure of someone who had read the instructions, checked the assembly diagram and brought the correct tools.
He is confident, experienced and completely unbothered by the fact that Lily’s plan could destroy several family dinners. His certainty is a huge part of what makes the dynamic work. He never feels confused about what he wants, and apparently I appreciate competence even when it is being applied to a truly terrible idea.
One more warning
Even though I read this rather than listened to it, this book should not be opened near relatives, coworkers or anyone capable of glancing at your screen.

Read this if…
Pick this up if you enjoy taboo romance, highly experienced older heroes, praise, power dynamics, revenge plots and novellas that regard a lengthy warm-up period as an unnecessary administrative delay.
This is especially suited to readers who want very high spice without abandoning the central romantic fantasy completely. Beneath the outrageous setup, Shane and Lily have years of hidden attraction and a surprisingly clear sense that this is not ending when the weekend does.
Readers looking for a gradual slow burn, extensive world-building or a restrained family drama should continue walking calmly toward another book.

Group chat verdict
Lily discovered her fiancé was cheating and chose the sort of revenge that requires everyone involved to update the family tree.
Was this a reasonable response? No.
Was Shane standing there with the confidence of a man who knew exactly how unreasonable the weekend was about to become? Unfortunately for my standards, yes.
I expected five-chilli chaos. I did not expect to love the entire thing this much. The plot was fun, the taboo tension delivered, and Shane’s complete lack of uncertainty turned him into an immediate fictional problem.
I should have read this sooner.
Comfort-level note
This is a taboo erotic romance with a large age gap, an ex-partner’s father, revenge-based sexual dynamics, daddy kink, consensual non-consent, degradation and praise play, exhibitionism and other intense adult themes. Check the author’s full content warnings and your comfort level before reading.
Final vibe
Your ex cheated. His dad had rolled up his sleeves. Revenge became a five-star administrative nightmare.
